Austin's camera rant!

"I'm guessing you don't realise how silly you look crouching down there on the carpet!! So don't come crying to me when you dislocate your hip and put your back out! And anyway why are you using your phone to take a picture? Phones are for talking to cold callers from somewhere unpronounceable (no I don't want to buy a timeshare in Ulan Bator?) and automated helplines - press 1 if you want kalashnikov sales; press 2 if you want to self destruct ... !

You could at least try and find the proper camera - the one with 956 different settings, but you only ever use "auto". The one with that button on the side.

You know, THAT button!

The one you don't know what it's for, but are afraid if you press it, you might start a war in the Middle East or something!

Yes THAT camera!

The camera that you accidentally deleted 18,329 images of me doing really interesting things like yogic napping and underwater origami. Now the world will never know what they missed."

The world breathes a collective sigh of relief.

  1. MOL, Austin! The Lady is the same. When she uses the actual camera, she keeps the setting safely set to auto. I can't believe we are all denied the privilege of seeing all those pictures your mom deleted. Well, I guess inept help is better than no help (food server) at all.

  2. Soooooo, has the Mom been able to get up off the floor yet??? LOL. Our person would still be down there. Our Person has no idea how to use the camera either. But guess we are lucky to have them to open the cans.

  3. I have to laff at my mom struggling up again as her knees are distinctly uncooperative. She has a three point geting-back-up routine that makes folks perhaps witnessing same, shake their heads in pity.

  5. You just cracked us up today. At least your peeps uses the phone mine has an all singing all dancing mega flashy beast which she does not know how to use so only uses the one setting and just points and prays. Blimey you can't get the staff these days. Do these devices have a self destruct button? Off to check it out. Have a marvellous Monday.
    Best wishes Molly

  6. You are lucky, Austin! Our Mommy is agile and she is so INTRUSIVE. Plus we don't get to laugh at her...about squatting anyway. Most other things are fair game.

  7. Austin well at least there was no flash, right? We hate the flash.

  8. Haha - I do the same thing... only I need to delete the pictures on my camera or buy a new memory card. It's out of space. Mine's not very fancy though.

  9. She deleted the picts of the underwater origami?? That's just wrong

    ReplyDelete
  10. Wow that is a lot of deleted pictures!! Who knows what she had on there!

  11. My mum always uses the auto setting too. She gets in all sorts of weird positions to take my photo too but the ouches and ohhhs when she tries to get up are quite scary.

  12. oh my cat, SERIOUSLY? Yogic napping? Was it...synchronized yogic napping to boot?

  13. LOL, I have a camera exactly like yours. With that button :)

Hi, Austin. I missed you while I was on vacay!

  14. Haha! Our mom has gotten SO lazy, she only uses her phone now. She mostly uses it to get "reference poses" of us for her drawings, so we're not too offended - but an occasional proper photo might be in order, we think.

  15. Austin, I know what you mean - our Mommy is very technically challenged!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Austin, you are lucky that your mama uses her phone and not the camera like our mama does. She will tell us to "hold that pose" while she gets the settings just right. Do you know how hard it is to remain suspended in mid-air while chasing daBird? Sigh.

    PS, a belated Happy Birthday

  17. Our Michico uses Canon 7D to photo us for few years~
She loves photo too much, I have to get use to it, I mean, have to.

  18. You go Austin! TW used to think she was smart programming the camera for years. Then she put it on AUTO and is finally getting halfway decent pics of me.

  19. Aren't humans interesting tho - you never know what they will do next.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Austin, we can so relate. Our mom discovered a setting on the flashy box for "pets and kids" and that's where she leaves it set all the time. Yep, she's lazy.

  21. Austin, my human's camera phone is actually better than the first digital camera she used to take photos of me! Wow, was that a long time ago! And she gets on the floor all the time to photograph me... and she does yoga to make sure she doesn't kill herself doing it. When it comes to taking photos, she is too well prepared.

  23. BOL your staff sounds a lot like mine! WHat are they like? and why do they insist on pointing the flash bang boxes at us?

However I do have my revenge, just as she is about press the button I will move - hee hee all she has are black blurs!

  24. We have no carpets which is purrfect as the floor is just too hard for Mommy to crouch on. MOL.

  25. Oh Austin it's a constant struggle isn't it? Trying to keep our humans in line? They really aren't that easy to train - they need constant reminders of what we require .... they have difficulty operating simple equipment .... sigh. While I'm thinking about it, sign me up for your next underwater origami class - sounds interesting!

Have a happy day my handsome furriend!

  28. Guess you told her! Of course, just your expression was enough!

  29. MOL Austin! We are so blessed that our human has another human living with us that can use a camera, otherwise we shudder to think the atrocious, unflattering, and abysmal pictures that she would be posting on OUR blog, without our permission, for the world to see...

  30. I know how you feel, my mummy has only just figured out that there's an 'action' mode on the camera. Pity she never remembers to use it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. OMC how this made me laugh!!! I do the SAME thing! I am all over the floor in so many weird positions! AND do I use EITHER of my digital cameras? Hell No! I use MY PHONE too! That is why my photos are just soooooooo fabulous.....NOT!
    xoxoxo

  32. My Mommy does not has a card in her phone to store pictures (its a Blackberry) and she does that deliberately so she HAS to use a camera! But does she use the good one, with bells, whistles, makes tea, turns on the furnace and talks to yous? Nope, she uses a really simple digital and still messes up! Good thing she is really good with photoshop!
And my Mommy can't get up off the floor without rolling onto her hands and knees. Me loves it when the hairy slobbery sister starts licking her face and she is laughing so hard she can't hoist her incredible bulk off the floor!
    Kisses
    Nellie

  33. LOL. Caro... You do know that if you had it saved in a memory card, I'm pretty sure those images would be retrievable? Message me if you need help.

We miss you. And thank you for dropping by Chooey's to send her some POTP. Her mouth was bandaged and she's on soft diet for the 6 months...

  37. Hahaha. I have one of those cameras and I only ever use the auto button too. Glad I'm not the only one LOL.

I'm sorry for all you have to endure, Austin! :D

  38. So true about using the auto.I think everyone does. So bad we missed all those interesting pictures but I bet there will be more to come.

  39. Ha, one of my bipeds was crawling around to get a picture of a moth yesterday! I don't think they realise how stupid they look!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Austin our cats don't seem to mind the camera or flash at all!!! We are lucky I guess.
The kittens are for sure teenagers, trying to get into as much trouble as possible!!!! LOL

  41. Austin it sounds amazing the talents you showed the camera through that is what happens when devices get too techie its hard to do the task that was its propose. Through you did get one over on the flashy box good work.

    ReplyDelete
  42. We have finally gotten used to that flashy box!

  43. Austin, you never fail to make us laugh.

  44. Austin baby, you didn't have your treat today yet?

    MOL, we loved this post.

  45. Austin, you'll have to choose a better hiding place to avoid flashy boxes of any kind. Our mom risks creaky knees getting good shots but it's worth it.

  48. You know what would happen if she went to get the camera. You'd be long gone when she returned. We know that's why our mom uses her phone to take our photos much of the time. You're looking pretty cute, and she didn't want to miss that.
