Meet Zsa Zsa at Cats Protection!

Isn't she beautiful!

Now before you all rush to social media and announce that Austin's found true love at last, let me just say this. Yes she is beautiful, but no, we are not snuggling together and playing happy families at Chez Towers - "More's the pity" says The Staff!!

No! We decided a while ago to sponsor a kitty through Cats Protection UK and this is the one :) She is a one year old mum (as you can see) who was abandoned by her owners when they were evicted.

Cats Protection is a charity that does exactly that. It protects cats!! Here is what they say about themselves:
From humble beginnings in 1927, Cats Protection has grown to become the UK's leading feline welfare charity. We now help around 200,000 cats and kittens every year through our network of over 250 volunteer-run branches, 29 adoption centres and two homing centres.
Our work doesn’t stop there, however: we also provide an array of cat care information via our publications, website and helpline; promote the benefits of neutering to prevent unwanted litters from being born and becoming the abandoned cats of tomorrow and seek to educate people of all ages about cats and their care.

At the moment, they have well over 6000 cats and kittens needing homes, so we are doing our little bit to get the word out and support in any way we can.

Sponsoring at Cats Protection means you actually help pay for a pen not the cat, which makes sense as cats will move on as they find their forever homes. Zsa Zsa is still receiving treatment and looking after her kittens, so will not move out for a little while. You can read more about her here.

One of the most important initiatives Cats Protection promote is TNR. Neutering is very high on their agenda and this makes us happy - well after the initial "ouch" of course!  Kitties like Zsa Zsa are indeed very thankful!

If you live in the UK (or anywhere else) and want to help, the Cats Protection website is excellent and gives very helpful info.

catenarian - someone who looks after cats!
(actually means "chain-like" or "pertaining to chains", but I prefer my definition ;)

I support and donate to TinyKittens in Langley, Canada and also support and donate to our local shelter. I am going to check out your link!

  23. What gorgeous pictures. They really tug at the heart strings. Cats Protection is a brilliant organisation. The last local paper I worked on featured a cat looking for a home every week. It was a good way of getting people to adopt.

  27. We've been a sponsor the the Cats Protection for a couple of years or so now and we love how they always send pictures of the cats in "our" cage which go in a special book and also let us know when they have found their forever family and show them with their new humans.

  30. That sounds like a totally awesome organization, and the kitten is adorable. We like how a person can support the cage, and therefore end up supporting whoever is in the cage. That makes good sense. Oh, this weekend for sure (M swears on it) she'll help me with the special post!!!! If she doesn't you can march over here and put the bitey on her!

  35. Lovely young momcat! How smart that you are sponsoring the pen and not a specific cat. I will suggest that to the shelter where I volunteer.
