Tigger

A couple of folk have mentioned that they don't know who Tigger is or much about him, so I thought I would give a brief resumé of his story.

Just a few months after Austin came to us, he started going outside and it wasn't very long before he brought this little tabby home. One day I heard Austin scratching at the door and when I opened it there was my tuxie with the tabby both looking up at me and they were obviously about the same age and the tabby obviously had Austin's permission to come in! Since that day they have been great pals .. sort of!

We (eventually) called him Tigger and he made himself right at home!

I first blogged about this in May 2008, but you can read here about how their relationship developed. It was obvious he was not a stray. Someone wanted this kitty! However, despite asking questions around the neighbourhood, we have not discovered to this day who he belongs to! He just turns up (not every day, but most!) and eats some food and often just goes out again, but sometimes he wants to hang around.

Sometimes they have a face off! (Actually they are about to hug!)

Sometimes they just chill (not that often!)

But mainly Tigger just likes to eat!

As you can see he makes himself right at home and has grown into a fine (huge!) kitty
AND he's quite happy on Austin's pink blanket!!!

They have known each other well over four years now and they get up to all sorts of mischief! We have to be careful though, as Austin is a bit spiky at the best of times and he needs to be sure that everyone knows who is the king of this castle!

  1. oh so loved being reminded of how Tigger came to be (almost) part of your family. I was also wondering if he actually had a 'home of his own' but it seems not - wonder where he goes or sleeps at night tho (maybe in the Summer house?)

have had a chuckle at today's dictionary word definition :-)

  3. Austin knew you were a soft touch, and there was enough food and attention to go around!

  4. Tigger is really a beautiful cat ... reminds me of Tanner, which may be why I am so fond of him!

  5. Thanks so much for clarifying their fun friendship. I suspect Tigger is a two-timing cat with another part-time home. The only way to find out would be to have him wear one of those cameras. Or maybe tie a note to a collar?

  6. Mowzers, Austin! You brought home a BUDDY? That's so cool!

Allie wishes our neighbor kitteh wouldn't have so many cocktails in *OUR* yard. HRMPF.

Thanks so much for posting about the giveaway on your blog today!!

  7. I knew who Tigger is but I didn't know he had been around that long. He does sort of make himself at home. Does Austin ever try to follow him?? Take care.

  9. I liked reading Tigger's story. I will not be friends with ANY other cat, although I was on speaking terms with my old pal Elvis Pussley, who I communicated with through the screen door. As long as was on his own side of the door, that was fine.

  16. I enjoyed reading about Tigger and I have been very curious about him. I love that Austin brought him home. I so wonder where he otherwise lives and I would love for him to have a way to carray a message but he is like me and Austin..we don't wear collars. Of course I don't because mean ol' mommy makes me stay inside all of the time.

Loved the Word of the Day too. Austin, you are most excellent at etymology!

  17. I loved learning more about Tigger, I've just assumed that he was a neighbor's cat who visited your house now and again. Interesting that you still don't know who he belongs to! Cats are such fascinating little creatures, I wish he could tell you where he goes when he's not with you and Austin.

Love the picture of the face-off! I hope they hugged and made up. :)

  29. How sad actually to know there are what Leader Otis calls "Limbo Kitties"...those who have 'owners' but not Guardians..meaning they get fed, but maybe not regular vet checkups and certainly not much play time and cuddle time. Glad Tigger found you

  30. Austin! I *loved* reading about Tigger! I bet he has "home" #2 somewhere in your neighborhood where he can get a few noms on days when he hangs out elsewhere ;-) You guys look very chill together. Do you think Tigger would like to come for a brewski with us one evening??
