What to do?

The Staff here:

You know what it's like when you go from one room to another with purpose, but as soon as you get there you forget why you went? Well, it's a bit like that with blogging at the moment. I open up new post on blogger and I immediately lose focus and wander off into Google to ask questions like "who was the mother of Richard the First?"* Before I know it I'm deep into the bowels of the internet researching Wittgenstein's Tractatus. No focus. See!

And Austin is no help! He does all these cute things like napping and playing and napping and eating and napping and napping, but he's so super quick that by the time I've lumbered over to the camera or picked up the iphone he's moved onto something else equally as enthralling and I've forgotten what it was supposed to about anyway! And why is it he looks his cutest and most gorgeous when the light is bad and I am practically comatose?

Here is Austin napping in a riveting way in bad light on a dark blanket taken at a very bad angle.

It is such cutting edge filmature that I daren't upload to YouTube for fear the whole caboodle crashes with the bazillion hits it will get in the first hour.

We haven't seen Tigger very much over the winter either, so I can't even post assorted pictures of him eating Austin's food - Tigger eating from the left. Tigger eating from the right. Tigger eating upside down. The possibilities are endless, if only Tigger would turn up!

And then I forgot that yesterday was "Answer your cat's questions" day. Austin doesn't have any questions to be fair. He only has instructions - feed me now; get DaBird; scritch my chin; let me out; let me in; let me out ....

Which reminds me (though don't know why it should!). Austin has received one or two (or more) awards just lately and I am aware that he hasn't gracefully accepted them .. or even ungracefully! Please bear with us while he and I negotiate a deal where he can display all his bling without responsibility. It's an ongoing discussion.

One other thing. Austin would be so happy if more people would "like" his facebook page. He is getting very depressed at the stats he receives from facebook every month which basically say nobody likes him. I tell him that it would help if he posted some interesting status updates now and again. He's thinking about it!

  1. Good heavens, that was SUCH an exciting video. Did it wear you out. Our Mom knows all about trying to get good pictures. It is NOT easy. That is the one good thing about having so many mouths around here to feed and that is there is always something going on. Take care.

  6. The Very Boring Staff here reports that she KNEW the answer to your trivia question! She should spend more time on us and less on dead dudes.

(Mommy just discovered her paternal ancestors helped subdue the Saxons {her maternal ancestors} in 1066--Earl of Pomeroy!)

  7. Well I thought that was a darn good post! Hey, you're human after all so you don't really have to have anything special to talk about, just what's going on or not is cool!

  8. The mom says we're pretty boring sometimes. She must have a gazillion pictures of us sleeping on the bed. But then again, that's what we do 80% of the time!

We'll share Austin's page on our FB page. :)

  9. I just liked Austin's FB page. I'm sorry. I didn't know he had one!

I can relate to the only time Annie does something cute is when the camera isn't around or there's no light or she's moved on quickly.

    Congrats on all the awards!

  10. It can be difficult to find inspiration to blog sometimes. It happens to everyone, I'm sure.

Facebook can be disheartening sometimes. It's hard to get a following on there, and even when you have one, the posts don't necessarily show up on people's news feeds if they don't like enough of them. It's complicated or something.

We will go like your page if we haven't already, though!

  11. We just changed to Firefox from Chrome and will have to hop back over to Chrome to watch your video, having not downloaded the proper plugin yet evidently. We think an Answer Your Cat's Demands Day is a better idea! And we shudder to think of how many awards we haven't acknowledged yet. Purrhaps you'd like to switch moms?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Mom thinks its a gift that we cats have to look extra cute until the click of a camera. She is bad about awards as well time flies right?

  13. Austin, at least your serviss peeps didn't wake up! Ours needs to learn a little consideration.

  14. I try to write my ideas down, or else I will forget them! That way, I always have something to write about. But then sometimes I feel as though I'm not in the mood to write about that particular subject later on lol. And I do that forget what I was doing thing ALL the time!

  15. LOL and we did pop over and liked Austis' FB. We don't use ours much so we too are unloved. Have a fabulous Friday.
    Best wishes Molly

  17. Granny forgets everything too, she has to write down everything and I hear her talking, when she enters the room: why am I here, what was it what I needed..aso.. Your video can help with these problems, Austin. Looking at it, is kind of meditation..to stay focussed, to be in touch..in this case... with you. Well done!
We gave up FB a while ago..but we LIKE you anyway. Pawkiss :)

  19. Oh Austin.....that video was inspiring....napping is SO important to us kitties after all. Seeing how everyone else handles this grueling chore is always exciting (well, sort of). I'm glad you're accumulating bling.....and I had to set up a separate page to hold all of mine because it was weighing down my home page it kept slipping off Mom's computer screen!

    Hugs, Sammy

  21. Three major accomplishments:

    (1) I retained the reason I went to FB long enough to "like" Prof. Austin.

    (2) Then I explored how to leave "stickers" with little yellow smiley-faces, in response to messages I sent yesterday.

    (3) Then I returned here to leave this comment.

    Massive.

  23. Dutifully going to Austin's Facebook page (I hate Facebook). I know it will lead me astray into the netherworld of the internet, when I ought to be cranking on my big rush job. Sigh. I am SO easily distracted!

  24. I am sputtering on my blog too. No focus, can't focus. All I think about is FOOD! I liked Austin's FB page quite awhile back.. :) I still (really) like it!!! I DO see breathing on the videeohhhh.. :)

  30. Austin, at least your Mom has a blog even though she forgets what she is doing. Our Mom doesn't even have a blog! Forget Facebook because she doesn't have that either. We would like you on Facebook if we could. Our Mom recently let Andy join Cat Scouts so maybe she will eventually be a "normal" human and get a Facebook page and a blog. Anyway we love your napping video. It is perfect (just like you.)Love, Cali, Andy, Tater and Shelly (C.A.T.S)

  31. Austin, we feel your pain, truly we do. We're in the very same boat, award-wise. And we simply cannot get her to MOVE on it! We'll go like your facebook page right now, in case we already haven't. (who knows, with OUR human!)

  32. I don't have Facebook but I get your blog and have you on Google+. Plus, I really, really Like you for yourselves!!!! Don't feel bad about pics or what to say. Its just great hearing from you!! Hope Tigger is OK.

  33. That was one very exciting video, it reminds us of us most days. Our mama says we go from boring to full throttle in a blink. She never has the camera ready either. We did manage to poke and prod our staff to go over and like your FB page Austin.

  37. That video was riviting! Of course, any picture or movie of kitties should be classified as high art just because of the kitty!

  38. Paw-cademy Award worthy video for sure... Anyhow, same happens at our house. We are ridiculously cute at night when we snuggle with Mom on the couch. We might as well be in a cave for the lighting and when Mom takes a "selfie" we look like one massive, blurry blob...

  43. Don't worry too much about missing a picture or two of somethin' cute. When we cats are involved, another somethin' cute is ALWAYS just around the corner.

PS. Ummm... you have a FB badge with a linkie? I'm pretty sure I've already liked Austin's page but I just wanna double-check. purrs

  44. Don't feel bad about getting distracted. Mom and Mau keep getting distracted by Cat Scouts and if they don't get with the program, our blog will be going down the tubes. Fiona was impressed that you might want to curl up with her today and was wondering if you have a date for the Valentine's Day Ball at Madi's? She's never ask anyone out before or been on a date, so she doesn't know if this is proper etiquette, but the rest of us convinced her it would be okay to ask. So from Fiona: Austin, if you don't already have a date would you be interested in attending the Valentine's Day Ball with me? 45. Sweet Austin that video is purrfect, that is what we do around here most all the time. Mumsy complains because she says we never do anything exciting...well we think what you are doing is the most exciting thing any of us cats can do, what do you think? Hugs and nose kisses
