If you can't stand the heat .....

...... move to the Antarctic!

Cat! It's a tad warm and very humid, which we are not used to it here in Welsh Wales. The temperature reached something like 38C (100F) in the conservatory, about 32C (90F) in the summerhouse - with all the doors and windows open -  and 27C (80F) outside (and we live on the coast!).

Ok I can hear you folk who live in hot climes say "Phhffffttt, that's nothing!" But to us who are used to more temperate weather, it's a scorcher. So much so, that I didn't even have the energy to fight Tigger for the biggest shady bit!

Tigger is a shade hog if truth be known and as he is the size of an elephant I'm not going to fight him. I don't mind getting my little white footsies sunburnt really I don't!

Keep cool everyone!

  1. OH, I know my mommy has a thing about Tigger and really likes that he is your buddy (at times he is your buddy!) and enjoys that buff colored bikini he's sporting...BUT! YOU are first with her Austin, and you need some shade for your feets! Your pads will be sunburnt too and we can't have that. Mommy said she will politely ask Tigger to move over a bit.

What was that Tigger? How RUDE! And you know we don't meow Welsh! But from the sound of it, that was not a nice thing you said to my mommy about moving over. We shall alert the Feline Authority if you don't apologize.

  2. Tigger! I do believe you are giving Austin the stink eye and he is on his own property!!!

  3. Austin,
Don't worry if your handsome toes get sunburnt. I shall be over on the first international tunnel flight with aloe and niptinis to soothe you.

  5. Austin it's stifling over here in the East Midlands too at 78F here in the shade on a north facing wall out of the sun at (2 p.m.). It's a wonder we don't look like Mr Blobby with all the water we've drunk. The conservatory is unbearable so it's a pity the computer is in there with all it's 720 wires and extras! Still that's one is for Mum to sort out.

  9. I hope it cools down for you Austin. But it looks like your getting a nice suntan there right now!

  10. Oh Austin there must be a way to trick that elephant to move his carcass over. Not fair that he gets all the shade. Anyway, good luck to you. Take care.

  11. It may be the camera angle, but Tigger doesn't look that big from here... just sayin'
On the other hand/paw, you need to keep your paws in the shade. Our mom had a bad experience with her first kitty. [She didn't know any better], so she took her kitty (and a bowl of water)up in the flat roof with her for some fresh air and a sunbath. The kitty kept meowing, so she brought him in and discovered to her horror that he had BURNT all of the beautiful pink pads on his feet. Poor thing. He had to lie on a big pillow with all legs splayed out to the side.

  12. Austin, you are too gracious! I think you should make Tigger move over.

  13. Wow, that is hot. You'd think the boys would find a shady spot in the buses? Mind you, our boys can be lolling on a steamy driveway most days. Some like it hot!

  14. Yikes! That IS hot! Hope you guys keep cool and comfortable!
P.S. Sorry we haven't been by to visit in a while. We had subscribed to your blog recently but for some reason we haven't been getting the posty emails to tell us you had new posts. We thought it was odd and came to check it out, and sure enough you've been posting and we have been missing it!!! So sorry, Austin! We don't know what happened. We are having this problem with a few different blogs we follow. We are going to resubscribe in case our email might have gotten deleted or something. Anyway, sorry for the long ramble - we just didn't want you to think we were ignoring you!

  15. 38C? MOUSES! that's hot.

We've been havin' a lot of 27C days here, too, which is okay when there's no humidex. But when the humidex is in the mid to high thirties... MOUSES! That's when I lose my cool with Ol' Mother Nature.

  20. OH Austin my sweet friend...I surely feel bad for you. I live in a hot humid climate but we are accustomed to it and have central a/c. I know it is very unusual for you and I hope it goes away very very soon!!
    Lots of cool hugs

  21. Austin I think you are very generous to share YOUR shade with Tigger! And you know hot is HOT no matter where you are!

  22. We just got a break from the hot weather and we actually had to wear pants today! We will blow some your way :-)

  23. I guess you guys don't have air conditioning since you so rarely need it. Those indoor temps are pretty hot. When we lived in Texas, that was hot! It wasn't below 90F outside for about five months (and 100 a lot of the time). Hopefully, the heat will let up soon for you guys.

Austin, Annie knows how it is having a giant for a roommate. Pierrot is a hog too. You two look like you're trying hard to stay cool. Remember this day when it gets cold!

    ReplyDelete
  24. That Tigger is very rude to hog most of the shade! It is equally hot and humid here and the Beans and I are melting.

    ReplyDelete
  25. That is a bit warm! We hope Tigger doesn't hog the shade all day. Stay cool...if you can.

  28. We have some ants we'd like to send to the arctic. We've been plagued by them this summer. Looks to us like there might be room in the shade for two. Sorry about the hots. We don't like it either; though, we have it efurry summer. Hope it ends for you soon. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  29. I feel your pain! We are on the coast as well, but we've suddenly had some really hot weather! (Summer is not my favorite season... )

  30. Sun puddles are nice when it isn't 100F! Tutu only enjoys the sun puddles when she's in the air cond room. Haha.

We think you might want to find that bit of energy to roll over to your right so your hind legs don't get baked. ;)

Uh... hate to tell you this, Austin, but with that camera angle, you're looking just a wee bit (gasp!) bigger than the elephant.

  39. When you're not used to a temperature, it can be tough when you reach it. And you're by the sea, too. It should be pleasantly balmy there. Too hot!

  46. Wow--that's HOT Buddy! Sheesh. You should come over here--it's a cool 62 right now and a high of 75 is predicted for tomorrow. I got plenty of room, and I'm not as rude as Tigger.

  48. We sure hope it has gotten cooler for you all. We don't like those hot temps either and especially when it is humid too. Hugs and nose kisses

  49. The shade is the place to be. We have had cooler weather lately so haven't had to escape the heat. Not sure which is better in summer! Hope it cools down a little for you though.

  50. We've had it really hot over here in the North West of England too! Mummy and Daddy have just been stripping off and lying in the breeze of our fan!

Sunbathing on the windowsill is becoming unbearable and we mostly lie on the wood floors cos it's cooler than the bed and sofa.
